How to password protect folders in cPanel

Password protection is useful for private folders, test areas or client downloads. In cPanel, open Directory Privacy and choose the folder you want to protect. Enable password protection, give the protected area a clear name and save. Then create an authorised user with a strong password. Visitors who open that folder will need the username and password before seeing its contents. This is helpful for staging websites, temporary previews and sensitive files. Do not use it as the only protection for highly confidential data. Remove old users when access is no longer needed.
